We’ve always built parts with one person in mind: the garage builder.

When Pat wanted a hardtail on an EVO Sportster, there wasn’t one available for it. So naturally, he built one. But, in Pat’s style, he didn’t just want to create a hardtail. He wanted to create a system that would allow other garage builders to do the job at home, with the right tools, skills, and a little patience, of course.

That idea is still at the center of everything Led Sled makes today.

Built for the Garage Builder

One of the biggest challenges with building a hardtail is getting everything lined up correctly. Pat’s solution was to develop a system that uses the motorcycle’s own motor as the frame jig.

This means you don’t need a specialized frame jig just to build your custom Sportster. The system was designed so the garage builder could do it themselves while keeping the frame structurally correct.

And, of course, Pat also put a lot of thought into how the finished bike would look.

Our hardtails are designed around the specific year of Sportster they’re made for, with tubing and lines that keep the frame looking seamless. The goal is for it to look like a complete frame – not a stock frame that had a hardtail added to it.

We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.

We build hardtails for Sportsters from the early Ironheads through 2022, with a wide range of options for different styles and builds. Whether you’re keeping things simple or going after something much more custom, we can build a hardtail around what you’re looking to create.

The hardtail is just one example of how we approach parts.

Every time Pat creates something new, he’s thinking about the garage builder. How can we make the job easier? How can we solve a problem? How can we give someone the parts they need to build the bike they have in their head?

That’s the reason we make so many of our own components. We’ve been building these bikes long enough to know where the challenges are, and we use that experience to create solutions for other builders.

For those who want to get even closer to plug-and-play, our complete hardtail kits can be shipped with the oil tank and battery tray already mounted. That leaves you with the fender to mount and the rest of the build to make your own.

And if you’d rather leave the welding to us, you can send us your bare frame. We’ll install the hardtail for you and send it back ready for the next stage of your build.

We build the parts. We figure out the hard stuff. We engineer the system.

Then we put it in the hands of the person who wants to build their own motorcycle.

From the first EVO Sportster hardtail to the parts we’re creating today, the goal hasn’t changed:
Build it right. Make it work. And make it possible for the garage builder to do it themselves.
